Outpatient Pharmacy Lead

The University of California, Irvine seeks a highly skilled and experienced Outpatient Lead Pharmacist to lead and direct the Outpatient Specialty Pharmacy operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective management of outpatient pharmacy medication therapies, coordinating labor to support area service lines, and providing training and oversight for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and administrative personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and direct the Outpatient Specialty Pharmacy operations to ensure compliance with pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Coordinate labor to support area service lines, including the Meds to Beds Program, Patient Immunizations and Travel Clinic, HIV/PEP/PreP clinic, and retail pharmacy services.
- Provide training and oversight for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and administrative personnel engaged in retail pharmacy services.
- Ensure the availability of appropriate medication inventory and maintain compliance with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) and State and Federal Laws.
- Develop and implement efficient workflows, programs, policies, and standard operating procedures to optimize pharmacy operations.
- Collaborate with internal and external healthcare teams to identify opportunities and address concerns.
- Provide high-quality patient care, including filling and receiving prescriptions, giving patient consultation and provider education, and prescription order verification.
- Minimum four years of experience as a licensed pharmacist in a retail or community pharmacy setting.
- Knowledge and experience with the 340B drug pricing program.
- Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
- Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Demonstrated experience providing oversight, training, and development for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
- Demonstrated experience monitoring quality and efficiency utilizing metrics.
- Demonstrated experience developing efficient workflows, programs, policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Current BLS or ACLS certification.
- CA Board of Pharmacy Registered Pharmacist licensure in good standing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
