Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Pee Dee Regional Center in Florence, SC. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Job Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide daily nursing care, training, activities, and treatment to individuals in accordance with licensing and certification requirements, the South Carolina Nursing Practice Act, and South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs Policies and Procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer routine oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications as well as treatments in accordance with nursing protocol, facility policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor health conditions of individuals and report findings to medical providers and appropriate staff. Assist physician/practitioner with examinations and treatments as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary living and working environment.
  • Ensure accountability and protection from harm for all individuals through appropriate and thorough documentation.
  • Review monthly medication administration records and 90-day recertification orders, complete healthcare records, AIMS/DISCUS, swallowing and SAOM evaluations. Assist with weights and heights as ordered and indicated by policy and procedures. Properly document as needed.
  • Perform and participate in activities as otherwise assigned by the supervisor to include, but not limited to, participation in on-call rotation procedure.
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a registered nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from a registered nursing education program per Section of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act.
  • Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.
  • Knowledge of practical nursing procedures. Knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health, and safety practices. Knowledge of the human anatomy. Ability to maintain attention to detail. Ability to make accurate technical and physical observations of individuals. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain accurate medical documentation. Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and laws. Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, and educational backgrounds. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the healthcare team. Ability to lift and move individuals. General knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Ability to work in a group home-like setting or ICF. Physical ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile.
