We are seeking a highly skilled Microbiologist I to join our team at Merieux NutriSciences. As a trusted partner in the food industry, our Public Health mission is to make food systems safer, healthier, and more sustainable. In this role, you will be responsible for testing samples using various microbiological analyses and providing analytical support for the lab.
Key Responsibilities- Perform testing of samples using various microbiological analyses
- Provide analytical support for the lab by ensuring that laboratory procedures are being performed within specified quality guidelines
- Serve as a technical resource and provide ongoing technical support related to method and process implementations
- Read, calculate, record data in Laboratory Information Management System
- Perform rapid test methods and confirmation tests on suspect samples to identify the strain of bacteria
- Read, enter, and evaluate process control samples
- Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) required to complete job responsibilities
- Support root cause analysis investigations and suggest appropriate corrective actions
- Associate's degree required, Bachelor's preferred or equivalent work experience
- Basic knowledge of microbiology to accurately perform testing procedures and obtain accurate results
- General knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System required to process client data
- Physical dexterity required for manipulating samples
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and practices required to ensure a safe working environment
- Interpersonal skills required to effectively work within teams
The incumbent works in a laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory. Safety equipment such as gloves, laboratory coat, and eyeglasses may need to be worn depending on the testing process.
