Chemical Dependence Advocate

Job Summary:
Oswego County Opportunities, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Advocate - Chemical Dependence to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals struggling with chemical dependence and helping them achieve long-term sobriety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support and counseling to residents, focusing on their goals and objectives.
- Assist residents in developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle conducive to recovery.
- Collaborate with treatment providers, healthcare professionals, and social service agencies to ensure comprehensive care.
- Document resident progress and maintain accurate records.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings, training sessions, and in-service programs.
- Facilitate education groups and engage in leisure activities to promote positive socialization and coping skills.
- Administer and monitor resident medications, ensuring adherence to treatment plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree in Human Services or a related field.
- One year of experience in an alcoholism or substance abuse program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid New York State driver's license and reliable vehicle for transporting residents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle stressful situations professionally.
Benefits:

Work Schedule:
Full-time, 36.5 hours/week, with flexibility in hours and days. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: 11 pm to 7:30 am the following day. Saturday: 11 pm to 10 am the following day.
