Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Specialist to join our team at Fairstead, a purpose-driven real estate firm dedicated to building sustainable communities. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring compliance standards are met for properties across the country.

About the Role

  • Process initial, annual, and interim recertifications, calculating retroactive rent while adhering to HUD regulations and HPD guidelines.
  • Calculate rents for annual and interim recertification.
  • Identify households with income reporting discrepancies and make rent adjustments.
  • Review applicant files and determine Section 8 eligibility.
  • Follow LIHTC and Section 8 guidelines.
  • Notify residents of upcoming recertifications.
  • Schedule initial interviews for recertifications.
  • Prepare third-party verification forms.
  • Maintain residents' files and paperwork.
  • Review tenant ledgers for arrears.
  • Investigate and correct income discrepancies for NY.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Section 8, LIHTC, and HUD regulations.
  • Experience with EIV reports.
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-driven.
  • COS certification.
  • Experience with MOR and Yardi.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Notary Public preferred.
