Job Summary

Ryder System is seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic Technician to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine and complex repairs on heavy duty vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance and complex diagnostics.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer tools.
  • Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Replace defective components as instructed.
  • Work unsupervised on most tasks and interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints.
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
  • Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines.
  • Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.
  • Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred.
  • Basic tools required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
  • Three years or more relevant work experience preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred.
  • All other certification as required by location.
Additional Requirements
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
