We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Utilities Assistant to join our team at the University at Buffalo. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment providing heat, hot water, ventilation, air conditioning, and electrical distribution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC systems, boilers, and auxiliary equipment to identify and resolve issues.
  • Perform work in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all relevant safety protocols and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other facilities management staff to ensure seamless operation of all equipment and systems.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC and electrical distribution.
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
