Key Responsibilities:
- Assist chefs in various kitchen tasks, ensuring all food preparation meets safety and sanitation standards.
- Complete prep lists efficiently by the end of each shift, avoiding unauthorized overtime.
- Follow opening and closing procedures to ensure a smooth transition between shifts.
- Oversee proper handling and rotation of all refrigeration and dry storage items.
- Engage in ongoing education programs focused on sanitation and safety practices.
- Review daily production sheets and coordinate with the Chef de Cuisine or Sous Chef regarding daily requirements.
- Monitor food quality and manage inventory in walk-ins and freezers to reduce waste.
- Prepare orders according to established standards and guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, ensuring all food items are properly stored and labeled.
- Familiarize yourself with kitchen equipment, understanding their functions and maintenance needs.
- Adhere to kitchen policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Participate in recycling and waste disposal procedures.
- Utilize gloves when handling ready-to-eat food items.
- Organize and prioritize daily tasks effectively.
- Prepare mise en place for menu items, ensuring readiness for service.
- Read and follow standardized recipes accurately.
- Communicate effectively with team members and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service.
- Demonstrate the ability to multitask while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
- High School Equivalency; vocational or technical training in culinary arts is preferred.
- Ability to work in a high-heat environment, handling steam, boiling liquids, and sharp tools with caution.
- Capability to carry trays and deliver food with precision and poise.
- Physical ability to lift supplies or equipment weighing 30 pounds or more.
- Willingness to engage in frequent physical activities such as pushing, pulling, bending, and reaching in a busy kitchen.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a hot kitchen environment.
