Key Responsibilities
Utilizes heavy machinery such as backhoes or shovels to excavate for sewer, water, and gas line repairs in accordance with project specifications.
Prepares the worksite by breaking concrete as needed.
Excavates for sewer, water, and gas line repairs and new installations.
Assists technicians in executing repairs.
Backfills excavated areas and ensures proper grading, cleaning, seeding, and restoration of the site.
Removes outdated sewer lines for the installation of new systems.
Verifies proper flow in lines before concluding work at the site.
Secures customer approvals for completed work.
Maintains and refuels vehicles, ensuring service trucks are stocked with necessary parts.
Transports materials and tools to job sites while keeping accurate records of equipment.
Completes all required documentation regarding services performed and may collect and record fees for submission to the office.
Qualifications
A valid CITY OF OMAHA SEWER LAYER LICENSE is mandatory. A high school diploma or equivalent GED is preferred. Relevant experience and/or advanced training, or any equivalent combination of education and experience, may be considered. Proficiency in operating heavy equipment is required. A valid driver's license and effective communication skills are essential.
