Key Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, the Advanced Radiologic Technologist II is tasked with operating radiology equipment to capture imaging films as directed by healthcare providers. This role involves performing radiographic and cardiopulmonary procedures essential for routine diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The technologist will also conduct specialized diagnostic procedures, including venography, myelography, and gastrointestinal examinations.

  1. Execute and perform all diagnostic radiographic procedures for interpretation by physicians or radiologists.
  2. Position patients and adjust equipment to obtain diagnostic images in accordance with established protocols.
  3. Review radiology films and/or digital images for attributes such as density, contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.
  4. Capture x-rays of various body parts to assist in diagnosing medical conditions or injuries.
  5. Adhere to safety protocols, radiation protection measures, and ensure patient comfort and care.
  6. Document test results and monitor patient data accurately.
  7. Maintain a radiographic log in compliance with policies, ensuring documentation of exams, patient names, and reasons for retakes.
  8. Keep a separate report on all diagnostic x-rays.
  9. Ensure accurate departmental records to meet state and federal regulations.
  10. Manage the filing and maintenance of shipping and receiving logs for radiographs and other diagnostic tests.
  11. Maintain current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for the radiology department.
  12. Calibrate and maintain x-ray equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:
Associate degree from an accredited radiologic technology program is required.
Current and valid registration with the American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT) is mandatory.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification is required.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in radiologic technology is required.

Skills:
Proficient knowledge of radiology equipment, anatomy, and physiology.
Thorough understanding of medical terminology and abbreviations.
Awareness of safety hazards related to radiology, including equipment handling, body mechanics, and patient mobility.
Ability to position patients effectively to ensure high-quality imaging.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with standard practices and procedures within the field.
A strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism are essential.
