Position Summary

The Construction Project Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the project manager with the planning and execution of construction activities. This position involves preparing change orders, engaging in negotiations, and overseeing overall project administration.

The Coordinator is responsible for managing project controls to ensure adherence to contracts, budgets, schedules, job costing, forecasting, quantities, and billing processes. Effective communication of relevant information to appropriate stakeholders is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee cost reporting and financial projections.
  • Organize and monitor all change orders.
  • Review, analyze, and update project schedules in collaboration with the project manager and team.
  • Understand and communicate the critical path of the project to relevant parties.
  • Update equipment schedules with input from project managers and superintendents.
  • Maintain current project status and communicate field activities during project reviews.
  • Facilitate cross-training among engineers and field staff to promote a collaborative environment.
  • Maintain communication with owners, vendors, subcontractors, and project team members.
  • Draft and manage written correspondence with owners and vendors.
  • Coordinate the Request for Information (RFI) process and collaborate with field engineers/superintendents for final review.
  • Supervise the routing of drawings and ensure transmittal approvals.
  • Maintain records related to job progress, costs, material usage, and other relevant data.
  • Manage and develop field engineering personnel.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience in large heavy/highway construction projects, including structures, bridges, underground work, earthwork, and concrete paving.
  • Experience with medium to large projects valued at $25M or more.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent prioritization and organizational abilities; attention to detail is crucial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • The capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
