Job Summary
Babson College is seeking a skilled Architectural Trades Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our building's doors, locks, and door cores, as well as ensuring the proper functioning of our One Card system and related components.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, adjust, and repair all buildings' doors, locks, and door cores
- Maintain and repair the One Card system and related components
- Ensure compliance with operating guidelines, state/local building codes, and other government regulations
- Collaborate with the Trades Supervisor to develop and implement maintenance schedules and programs
- Document repairs, maintenance, and comments on assigned service order slips
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent technical school certification
- Two to three years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, material safety data sheets (MSDS), mechanical drawings, operating, maintenance, repair, installation, and procedure instructions or manuals
- Ability to write out routine reports, fill out equipment logs, and provide descriptions of equipment problems and needs
- Ability to describe and explain specific problems and operating requirements on architectural/lock issues to other mechanics and immediate supervisor
Working Conditions
- Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, hazardous chemicals, outside weather conditions, and extreme heat
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
- Usually moderate noise level
- Regularly required to work extended hours and participate in an after-hours emergency call-back program
