Job Title: Patrol Officer

Join the City of Davenport Police Department as a Patrol Officer and contribute to maintaining law and order in our community.

Job Summary:

The Patrol Officer is responsible for enforcing laws and ordinances, protecting lives and property, and preventing and investigating crimes. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and make sound judgments in emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide assistance as needed.
  • Conduct proactive patrols and business checks to prevent and detect crime.
  • Investigate crimes and gather evidence to support prosecution.
  • Arrest and process suspects, and escort them to the police department or jail.
  • Testify in court and present evidence to support cases.
  • Enforce traffic laws and regulations, and provide information to the public on road conditions and directions.
  • Control pedestrian and driver compliance with safety laws.
  • Complete all required reports and paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or Florida GED equivalent.
  • Must meet Florida Statutes requirements for a Police Officer.
  • Must be 19 years of age or older.
  • Must possess a valid State of Florida driver's license.
  • Must have an honorable military discharge, if applicable.
  • Must be a United States citizen or naturalized citizen.
  • Must be in good physical condition and pass a physical examination.
  • Must pass a drug urinalysis test.
  • Must undergo and pass a polygraph and psychological examination.
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony.
  • Must endure a personal, professional, and moral background investigation.
Working Conditions:

The Patrol Officer works in a fast-paced environment, often in emergency situations. The role requires the ability to work in extreme temperatures, confined spaces, and heights. The officer must also be able to wear protective gear, including a bullet-proof vest, hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves.
