Job Summary

AbbVie is seeking a skilled Construction Project Cost Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Engineers and construction services to review drawings and identify materials required to perform tasks, order materials, and estimate labor requirements to support the completion of projects within scope of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a combination of specialized duties involved in the estimating, coordinating, and organizing of project-related jobs.
  • Accept and review construction blueprints, specifications, and other relevant documents and conduct field checks to prepare estimates.
  • Review blueprints for value engineering opportunities and utilize knowledge of existing facilities to provide customers with alternate implementation options to save on installation costs.
  • Create installation proposals with associated cost estimates for customer requests when no blueprints are available.
  • Implement AbbVie standards and specs along with codes governing the tasks being estimated.
  • Estimate labor for jobs, prepare material requirements, and specify tools and necessary safety equipment when required.
  • Order parts from stockroom, initiate purchase requisitions for job materials and spare parts.
  • Coordinate with external vendors to specify, order, and receive materials for jobs and track the status of ordered materials.
  • Coordinate work with other supervisors and operating departments.
  • Instruct tradespeople in the proper method or procedure of performing the job as needed.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent and a minimum of ten years of experience in a trade specific to the position applying for within a commercial or industrial work environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Experience with computer maintenance management systems, email, and calendaring.
  • Multi-skilled trades capability and familiarity with the application and operation of all basic tools and equipment used by various trades groups.
  • Knowledge of various computer systems and programs used in facility operations.
