Job Summary

The Scott County Sheriff's Office is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to provide medical care to the inmate population of the Scott County Jail. As a Correctional Facility Nursing Professional, you will be responsible for providing skilled nursing care and ensuring inmate medical needs are being met with the appropriate level of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides medical care to the inmate population, including physical and mental health assessments, treatment, and monitoring
  • Reviews intake health forms, identifies potential health problems, and initiates medical screening as warranted
  • Performs physical and mental health assessments, reports findings, and initiates treatments as appropriate
  • Makes arrangements for further health care, including appointments and laboratory tests
  • Prepares medication carts and educates inmates and correctional staff on medication side effects
  • Maintains medical records and provides health education to inmates
  • Participates in staff meetings and conferences to improve jail medical services
Requirements
  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by Minnesota or ability to be licensed within three months
  • Preference for experience in corrections or institutional nursing, disease prevention and control, or mental health/psychiatric nursing
  • Skills in triage and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
