Nuclear Imaging Tech I/RAD Job Description

Job Summary:

Operate radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic x-ray films as directed by physicians. Perform routine diagnostic procedures and Cat Scan according to established standards and practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Transfer and position patients. Provide immobilization devices as required.
  • Operate all equipment. Select proper technical factors on an individual patient basis. Develop films. Use proper sterile techniques.
  • Provide proper radiation protection as prescribed by safety standards to themselves, patients, visitors, and other personnel.
  • Provide radiologist with pertinent patient and exam information. Assist radiologist with exams, invasive procedures, and administering contrast material.
  • Knowledgeable with, and assist in, all quality assurance and quality control functions and record keeping.
  • Maintain adequate records. Assist with patient record keeping.
  • Maintain an orderly and clean work area. Secure and maintain supplies.
  • Perform exams in accordance with established protocols. Share call and be available to come to the hospital within 30 minutes after being notified.
  • Assist in the use of a variety of equipment and procedures. May be required to assist in the development of new procedures, technical factors, film selection, and instruct ancillary personnel.
  • Contribute to department development, education, personal, and professional growth.
  • Maintain familiarity with and follow all department and hospital policies and procedures, safety program, emergency preparedness, Infection Control, etc.
  • Rotate in the Radiology Department as needed. This may include call, change of shift, change of position, and working beyond end of shift.
  • Follow all State and AOA requirements.
  • Comply with Hospital Hand Hygiene Standards.
  • Adhere to Hospital Standards of Behavior.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    • Extend body and limbs to reach items.
    • Lifting, moving and loading 30 to 50 pounds.
    • Potential exposure to noise levels being uncomfortable.
    • Prolonged periods of standing.
    • Prolonged periods of walking.
