As a Preschool Educator with OLHSA, you will provide a quality educational experience for children in the Head Start Program. This includes children with disabilities, and you will work to meet program goals such as family, health, and school readiness. You will perform duties as assigned, adhering to Health and Human Services and State of Michigan licensing requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the individual needs of children, including those with an Individual Education Plan (IEP).
2. Provide children with developmental experiences in approaches to learning, social-emotional, language, and literacy, cognitive and perceptual, motor, and physical development.
3. Maintain constant active supervision of children in the classroom.
4. Administer standardized screening to identify children's needs and make referrals as necessary.
5. Maintain accurate documentation of children's educational experiences.
Requirements:
1. Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or equivalent coursework.
2. At least one year of experience working with preschool children and parents, preferably in Head Start.
3. Valid Michigan Driver's License, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation for job-related travel.
Physical Demands:
This role requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping for extended periods. You will also need to crawl, reach, crouch, balance, and lift weights up to 50 pounds.
