Job Overview

Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Athletics Department Coordinator. This role will be responsible for assisting higher-level staff with various maintenance, repair, and construction work, as well as maintaining the upkeep of our recreational facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of facilities, including mowing, edging, and trimming of grass and shrubbery.
  • Operate equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and chemicals to maintain grounds and facilities.
  • Move bleachers and equipment for events and tournaments.
  • Plant and maintain sod, shrubbery, and other beautification at recreational facilities.
  • Clean and refinish gym floors and other surfaces.
  • Line and clean baseball and softball fields.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed to prevent injury to employees, the public, and damage to property.
  • Work collaboratively with other Parks and Recreation staff to achieve the vision and mission of the CPRST Board of Directors and the City of Cullman.
  • Exhibit a high level of professionalism and ethics in all interactions.
  • Communicate effectively in written and oral form.
  • Work varied hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Attend meetings as requested by supervisors.
Working Environment

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to adverse weather conditions and hazards associated with equipment and maintenance duties. Protective equipment is required, including gloves, safety glasses, and boots.

Physical Demands

This role requires the physical and mental ability to operate a motor vehicle, grounds maintenance equipment, and computer. Work also requires working around heights, heavy lifting, and the ability to climb, stand, bend, and sit while performing various job duties. Must be able to routinely lift 50 pounds of weight without assistance.
