Job Summary:

As a Speech Pathologist Per Diem SLP at Kaiser Permanente, you will provide direct patient care to members with communication and swallowing disorders by evaluating, diagnosing, developing, and implementing therapy/treatment programs. Your expertise will be essential in assessing patients' conditions, planning and implementing treatment programs, and collaborating with physicians to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
  • Administer diagnostic tests and provide individualized treatment to adults and children for various communication disorders, voice and swallowing impairments, and neurological defects.
  • Advise physicians of test results and recommend and implement appropriate treatments.
  • Monitor patients' progress and collaborate with physicians when altering treatment programs.
  • Serve as a consultant on interdisciplinary teams and provide expert advice in specialized areas such as pediatric speech, traumatic brain injury, etc.
  • Train CFY candidates and ensure compliance with TJC, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Develop protocols and treatment programs within specialized areas and present in-service programs in your area of expertise.
  • Perform diagnostic clinical swallowing evaluations on a diverse patient population and interpret and report results to referring physicians, therapists, and other medical staff.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of therapy programs addressing speech/language, voice, and swallowing problems for a diverse patient population.
  • Document patients' progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Adjust programs to improve effectiveness and meet client needs, determining further courses of treatment or intervention as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Masters or Doctorate Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • One year of clinical experience in dysphasia management and one year of clinical experience in Speech Pathology.
  • Speech-Language Pathologist License (California), National Provider Identifier, and Basic Life Support certification.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and ability to demonstrate knowledge and utilize theories, principles, practices, techniques, and methods of Speech Therapy.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
