Job Summary:

The Radiologist Assistant at Boston Children's Hospital plays a vital role in the diagnostic imaging process. As a key member of the radiology team, this professional is responsible for evaluating patient examinations, explaining procedures, and obtaining consent. They work closely with referring physicians and nurse coordinators to gather relevant history and review imaging with a radiologist. The Radiologist Assistant performs interventional and diagnostic procedures, makes initial observations, and documents methods. They communicate findings to radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians for official interpretation. Additionally, they are responsible for case documentation, communication with involved clinicians, and collaboration with colleagues to develop and implement clinical practice guidelines. This role requires a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree, a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Rad Tech, and certification by the Certification Board of Radiologist Assistants (ARRT R.R.A). The ideal candidate will have strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

Evaluates appropriateness of patient examination and evaluates contraindications and lab data
Explains procedures and obtains consent
Works with referring physicians and nurse coordinators to gather relevant history and review imaging with a radiologist
Performs interventional and diagnostic procedures consistent with competency and complexity as delegated by the supervising physician
Makes initial observations and documents methods
Communicates findings to radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians for official interpretation
Responsible for case documentation, communication with involved clinicians, and collaboration with colleagues to develop and implement clinical practice guidelines
Assists medical students, residents, and fellows rotating through the department
Teaches other healthcare professionals about the management of patients in Radiology
Provides leadership in the assigned Division's practice to resolve problems and improve patient care
Participates in Research/quality improvement efforts in the assigned Division

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Rad Tech
Certification by the Certification Board of Radiologist Assistants (ARRT R.R.A)
BLS and ACLS certifications
MA Radiologist Assistant License
