Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join our team at ContinueCARE Hospital at Medical Center Odessa. As a Unit Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our nursing unit, providing exceptional patient care, and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative Support: Provide clerical and receptionist duties, maintaining the physical environment of the nursing station, and ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
  • Cardiac Monitoring: Monitor heart rhythm patterns, detect and record normal and abnormal heart rhythm patterns, and report alarms and any abnormal interval measurements.
  • Patient Care: Demonstrate respect for patients' rights, dignity, and individuality in all interactions, and assist patients and visitors as needed.
  • Order Transcription: Transcribe and transmit doctor's orders to appropriate areas under the supervision of a registered nurse, and confer with leadership regarding scheduling patient activities and tests.
  • Medical Record Management: Assist physicians to retrieve patient data from medical records, and perform clerical functions for the nursing unit within the Unit Secretary's sphere of responsibility.
  • Communication: Answer telephone and intercom in a professional manner, take messages, and communicate messages to the appropriate person.
  • Admission, Room/Bed Change, and Discharge: Perform clerical duties related to the admission, room/bed change, and discharge of patients, and compile new charts, maintain current charts, and enter patient information on the charts and PCP.
  • Telemetry: Print Telemetry strips every 4 (four) and/or PRN as instructed.
