Job Title: Vice President - Allied Health Underwriter

Sompo International Holdings Ltd. is a leading provider of property and casualty insurance and reinsurance. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President - Allied Health Underwriter to join our Sompo North America Healthcare team in Chicago, IL.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of Sompo's strategies and appetites and will use internal and external data to make appropriate individual and portfolio risk decisions. The Underwriter will be responsible for the profitable growth of an assigned book of business, utilizing underwriting policies and guidelines, rating manual rules and insurance laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite Miscellaneous Healthcare, including Healthcare Professional Liability, General Liability, and other ancillary lines for primary, Umbrella, and Excess risks.
  • Evaluate individual risk characteristics and determine capacity, attachment point, terms, and pricing, using predictive modeling tools.
  • Foster and utilize expertise within the company, including claims, actuarial, and business development.
  • Maintain and enhance existing broker relationships and identify new relationships within the Midwest region with retail and wholesale partners.
  • Drive effective relationship management and customer activities to build trust, facilitate negotiation, and secure commitment with customers.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities and partner with other underwriters to deliver comprehensive insurance solutions for customers.
Requirements:
  • Established relationships with retail and wholesale networks.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional lines underwriting experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
