Position Overview:
The Vascular Ultrasound Specialist, under general supervision, conducts a variety of Sonography and Vascular Sonography examinations in accordance with established departmental protocols. This role involves performing ultrasound procedures on patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics, assisting physicians during interventional procedures, and selecting appropriate technical factors for optimal imaging results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the acquisition of high-quality ultrasound images tailored to patient body types and preparation status, as evaluated by Radiologists and departmental leadership.
  • Review all ultrasound images on the designated systems and accurately complete the Ultrasound documentation promptly.
  • Conduct examinations efficiently while assessing patient preparation and scheduling accordingly.
  • Maintain patient flow in both inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring departmental schedules are adhered to and productivity targets are met.
  • Utilize the hospital's information systems to manage exam statuses, update orders, and confirm that charges align with completed procedures.
  • Safely operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, adhering to all infection control protocols.

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited Ultrasound Program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • ARDMS credentials, including:
    • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen and OB/GYN
    • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS)
  • Preferred: Graduate of a Vascular Ultrasound Program.
  • Preferred: Associate or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Preferred: Knowledge in Breast Sonography, Pediatric, and Neuro Sonography.
