At FlightSafety International, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pilot Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our instructional staff, you will be responsible for providing ground-based training to C-17 pilots.

About the Job

The successful candidate will have a minimum of eight years of flying experience, with at least five years as a C-17 pilot with air drop and aerial refueling experience. They will also possess two years or 200 hours of flight instructor experience in air drop, aerial refueling, and tactics. Recent C-17 flight simulator pilot instructor experience and CATS MECOC certification are desired.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct training using devices such as the Weapon System Trainer (WST), the C-17 aircraft, Computer-Based Trainers (CBT), and other ground training equipment.
  2. Maintain a high level of subject knowledge, instruction capability, and expertise.
  3. Conduct briefings and debriefings, counsel pilots and Maintenance Engine Run personnel, and develop and maintain a high level of proficiency.
  4. Perform administrative duties related to training, including interfacing with the user organization, record keeping, monitoring student progress, counseling, training development, and maintenance of training programs.
  5. Provide inputs for courseware corrections and modifications, and update training policies and procedures.
  6. Flies the WST (as required) to maintain instructional expertise.
  7. Flies on the airplane (as required) in observer status to maintain currency on operational procedures and observe student progress.
  8. Serves as C-17 Pilot Subject Matter Expert (SME) for students, other personnel, and test events, as required.
  9. Serves as Flight Check Airman (FCA)(Lead), when assigned by the Employer.
  10. Serves as Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) Evaluator, when assigned by the Employer.
  11. Accomplishes Simulator Certification (SIMCERT)/Simulator Evaluation (SIMVAL) duties when assigned by the Employer.
  12. Assists in project and development work, as assigned.
  13. Periodically attends Operations Group Standardization/Evaluation (Stan/Eval) Boards (SEB) and Training Review Panels (TRP), as well as Formal Training Unit (FTU) instructor meetings (when FCA is unavailable).
  14. Attends Headquarters (HQ) Air Mobility Command (AMC) curriculum reviews, HQ AMC Stan/Eval Conferences, and/or Flight Manual Review Conferences (FMRC), as required (when FCA is unavailable).
  15. Accomplishes Learning Center monitor duties, as assigned.
  16. Accomplishes safety representative duties, as designated/assigned.
  17. Accomplishes physical/cyber security representative duties, as assigned.
  18. Accomplishes hazardous materials (HAZMAT) duties, as designated/assigned.
  19. Travels, as required.
  20. Performs other duties, as assigned.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is between $80,000 to $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to clearly relay information, both verbally and written, to others.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of instructional principles and theories pertaining to Training Systems.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Possess an active SECRET Security Clearance.
