Nursing Director NICU Job Description

Baptist Health System - San Antonio TX is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to fill the role of Nursing Director NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Leader.

Job Summary

This leadership position provides strategic direction and oversight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, ensuring high-quality patient care and exceptional outcomes. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of clinical staff, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve unit goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the NICU team, promoting a culture of excellence and patient-centered care.
  • Develop and implement unit policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve unit goals, improve patient outcomes, and enhance the patient experience.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop a high-performing team of clinical staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels and skill mix.
  • Monitor and evaluate unit performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • A current and active registered nurse license in the state of residence/practice.
  • Proven leadership and management experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a NICU or pediatric unit.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, patients, and families.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • A commitment to patient-centered care, quality improvement, and safety.
