• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the collection area and restock supplies as needed.

• Collaborate with the team lead to procure necessary supplies for the department.

• Execute all phlebotomy duties, including specimen collection, receipt, and referrals.

• Prepare specimens for external laboratory referrals, managing all associated documentation and logistics.

• Conduct patient specimen collections, including venipuncture, capillary collections, urine drug screens, and cultures.

• Ensure that all specimen requirements are met at the time of collection to maintain specimen integrity.

• Exhibit strong communication skills while interacting with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and colleagues.

• Utilize the laboratory information system to document specimen details, patient registration, and order entries.

• Perform additional duties as assigned, including inventory management and cross-training.

• Complete performance evaluations and competency assessments for associates in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

A. Education/Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Completion of a Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory, or Medical Assistant program that includes phlebotomy is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, data entry, and organizational skills is essential.

B. Experience

  • Preferred: One year of experience in phlebotomy.

C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • Certification from a Nationally Accredited Program is preferred.
