About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dental Assisting Faculty member to join our team at American Career College. As a key member of our student-centered community, you will play a vital role in guiding students to achieve their full potential in the field of dental assisting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement instructional programs and training schedules to meet diverse student needs.
  • Employ effective instructional methods and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students.
  • Observe and evaluate students' work to determine progress, provide feedback, and suggest areas for improvement.
  • Encourage the development of communication skills and higher-order thinking skills through appropriate assignments.
  • Present lectures and conduct discussions to increase students' knowledge and competence.
  • Supervise independent or group projects, field placements, laboratory work, or other training as necessary.
  • Provide individualized tutorial and/or remedial instruction.
  • Conduct simulated on-the-job training, classes, or training sessions to teach and demonstrate principles, techniques, procedures, and/or methods of designated subjects.
  • Post and maintain regular office hours to ensure accessibility to students for advisement and consultation.
  • Participate in graduation ceremonies.
  • Collaborate with college administration, staff, and other faculty members to improve the overall operation of the college/program.
  • Substitute for other instructors within the field or discipline in case of an absence.
  • Participate in conferences, seminars, and training sessions, and attend at least one professional development activity annually, two in-service events annually, and faculty meetings.
Requirements
  • Two years of occupational experience in the subject field in which they teach; or
  • Three years of occupational experience in the subject field in which they teach (if candidate does not meet education requirement).
  • Preferred: Must have a minimum of one year of teaching experience in the subject areas taught or demonstrate prior training in instructional methodology and teaching skills from a formal teacher educational program or any comparable training program or formal in-house training program.
Education
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be a graduate from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in the specialty field or the subject area in which they teach.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Must hold a valid, active, current license as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)/Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) and have been licensed for a minimum of two years.
  • Must possess a Certificate of Completion of a course in teaching methodology of at least 30 hours or must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Current CPR Card.
