Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Materials Field Technician/Inspector to join our team at Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting field observations, sampling, and testing of construction materials on various land development and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field observations at construction sites to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulations.
  • Collect and test construction materials, including soil, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel.
  • Prepare accurate daily logs detailing inspections and test results.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers and operations teams regarding project progress and any issues that may arise.
Requirements
  • Reliable vehicle for field work and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 60-80 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various outdoor climates and terrain.
  • Attention to detail and quality, with a focus on safety.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office programs and ability to use company-provided tablets.
  • Basic math skills and ability to use measurement tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and safety guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a construction materials testing technician or inspector.
  • Verifiable certifications, such as ACI, NICET, WACEL, etc.
