We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing and evaluating laboratory tests, monitoring workflow, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and evaluate laboratory tests, including blood and body fluid analysis, to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Monitor workflow and make adjustments as necessary to ensure timely completion of work.
- Document calibration and maintenance of instruments and equipment, as well as quality control results and corrective actions.
- Recognize indicators of test and/or instrument malfunction and take corrective action, or notify the Medical Technologist or supervisor.
- Collect and process specimens from patients, ensuring proper labeling and suitability for testing.
- Provide technical assistance to phlebotomists and support staff, as needed.
- Assist in improving the quality and efficiency of laboratory procedures, policies, and processes, ensuring compliance with accrediting agency standards and CLIA regulations.
- Utilize computer information systems appropriately and document quality assurance/improvement information according to established protocol.
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) or the American Medical Technologists (AMT) within 1 year.
- Associate's Degree in Clinical Lab Technician or related field.
- No experience required.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
- Maintains patient confidentiality in and out of the workplace.
- Demonstrates a willingness to work a flexible schedule, which may include alternate site assignment.
