Job Summary

Soliant is seeking a dedicated and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team in Falls Church, VA. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in enhancing the learning experience and success of students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Create customized IEPs tailored to each student's unique needs, ensuring a personalized approach to education.
  • Provide Instructional Support: Offer both direct and indirect instructional support in a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting a love for learning and academic growth.
  • Utilize Specialized Instructional Strategies: Employ a variety of techniques to enhance students' sensory, motor, language, cognitive, and memory skills, catering to diverse learning styles.
  • Deliver Academic Instruction: Teach academic subjects using diverse techniques such as phonics, multi-sensory approaches, and repetition to accommodate students' learning preferences and needs.
  • Promote Socially Acceptable Behaviors: Foster positive behaviors through behavior modification techniques and positive reinforcement, creating a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with general education teachers, school staff, and parents to ensure comprehensive support for students with special needs, promoting a cohesive and effective educational experience.
  • Maintain Student Records: Keep detailed records of students' progress and performance, tracking their growth and development throughout the academic year.
  • Engage in Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of the latest teaching practices and special education methodologies, ensuring a commitment to excellence in education.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or Related Field: Possess a degree in Special Education or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in special education principles and practices.
  • Valid Virginia Teaching License with Special Education Endorsement: Hold a valid Virginia teaching license with a Special Education endorsement (K-12), ensuring compliance with state regulations and standards.
  • Previous Experience Working with Special Needs Children: Possess previous experience working with special needs children, demonstrating a commitment to serving students with diverse needs.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively collaborate with colleagues, parents, and students.
