Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer

The City of Atlanta seeks a highly skilled Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to join our team.
Salary Range: $67,701-$112,907 per annum
This is a challenging role that requires technical expertise in plumbing and fire protection engineering. As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical direction to junior engineers and advising staff on complex projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform technical studies and generate preliminary design documents for plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Assist in preparing specifications and facility-wide technical standards.
- Review construction documents for compliance with engineering principles, department standards, contract requirements, and specifications.
- Coordinate with Resident Engineers and non-engineering staff to ensure successful project delivery.
- Provide design guidance for construction and maintenance projects, including plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, consultant/tenant design documents, and planning reports.
- Interface with other departments, management, tenants, outside consultants, construction contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Develop skills for future advancement, maintain a professional and productive work atmosphere, promote organization growth, and generate new ideas for improving services.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or a minimum of 2 years of related technical experience (co-op experience considered).
- Graduate of an accredited college or university.
- Certified in Plumbing Design by ASPE required.
- NFPA certification and Professional registration in Georgia as a PE are preferred.
- Valid State Issued Driver's License required.
Work Environment:
The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of plumbing and fire protection engineering, including mechanical engineering principles, National mechanical and plumbing codes, ASPE practices, and National Fire Protection Association Codes.
The candidate should also possess excellent organizational and technical skills, proficiency with computers and appropriate software, and the ability to think creatively and organize work for complex projects.
The City of Atlanta offers a competitive salary range of $67,701-$112,907 per annum, commensurate with experience, and a comprehensive benefits package.
