Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) provide direct patient care to a designated group of patients, adhering to the philosophy, policies, and procedures of Northside Hospital. LPNs are involved in the planning, execution, and assessment of nursing care, working under the supervision of Registered Nurses in their assigned clinical areas.

As stated by the National Association of Practical & Licensed Vocational Nurses (NALPN), "Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses represent the entry point into the nursing profession." LPNs operate in various clinical environments, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to enhance patient functionality and safeguard their health and safety. LPNs participate in the Licensed Practical Nurse – Nursing Excellence Track Program (L-NEXT) at Northside Hospital, which offers career advancement through knowledge expansion, continuing education, and specialty certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/License or Certification

  • Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an LPN.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Georgia.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/License or Certification

  • Prior experience in a specialized area.
