Position Overview

The City of Indianola is a vibrant community known for its rich history and welcoming atmosphere. This role plays a crucial part in promoting water safety and swimming proficiency among participants of various ages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the lead instructor during swimming lessons, ensuring adherence to established guidelines and lesson plans.
  • Provide information regarding aquatic programs and schedules, and guide participants and their families to additional resources as necessary.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance and skill achievements for each swimmer.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants by maintaining teaching equipment and conducting regular safety checks. Organize and store class materials appropriately, and report any equipment issues.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 15 years.
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate all necessary skills for teaching both in and out of the water.
  • Current certification in CPR/First Aid/AED from the American Red Cross or an equivalent program, to be obtained prior to employment.

Compensation: The starting wage for this part-time position is $11.50 per hour. The schedule may include daytime, evening, or weekend hours. This role is classified as non-union, and employment is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screening and background check.
