As an Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for implementing standards of care for occupational therapy services and adhering to all conditions outlined in the Service Agreement.
Responsibilities- Evaluate patients' functional status, including muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, written and verbal communication skills, self-care ability, and work capacity.
- Assess the home environment for hazards or barriers to independent living and identify equipment needs.
- Develop treatment programs and establish goals for improved function, communicating plans of care to referring physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Teach new skills or retrain patients in daily activities lost due to illness or injury, in accordance with organizational policy.
- Fabricate splints and instruct patients in the use of adaptive equipment to improve function.
- Train patients in the use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
- Maintain accurate clinical records, clinical notes, and reports to physicians, submitting records in accordance with organizational policy.
- Collaborate with other healthcare personnel to promote coordinated and efficient care.
- Participate in in-services, case conferences, and meetings to ensure comprehensive plans of care.
- Identify patient and family/caregiver needs for other home health services and refer as appropriate.
- Instruct patients' family/caregivers and other healthcare personnel in treatment regimes when indicated.
- Supervise certified occupational therapy assistants according to organizational policy and state regulations.
- Contribute to discharge planning for patients.
- Graduate of an Occupational Therapy curriculum accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Registered with the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Licensed to practice as an OT in the State of Florida.
- Two years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communication and organization skills.
- Licensed driver with an automobile in good working order and insured according to organizational requirements.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the position.
