Dental Hygienist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dental Hygienist to join our team at Matrix Providers. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our dental clinic.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Examine patients' oral cavities, including the mouth, throat, and pharynx, and record conditions of teeth and surrounding tissues.
  • Refer patients to dentists who have abnormalities, such as cavities, defective fillings, suspicious growths, or periodontal disease.
  • Apply desensitizing and other topical agents to treat abnormalities, including caries prevention, gingivitis, and oral ulceration.
  • Instruct patients in proper oral hygiene care, using materials such as teeth models, displays, slides, toothbrushes, dental floss, disclosing tablets, and mirrors.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques of brushing, flossing, and using necessary periodontal aids.
  • Explain the common causes of tooth decay and its relationship to general diet.
  • Take impressions and construct sports/safety mouth guards and soft night guards for vital bleaching.
  • Polish restorations and apply pit and fissure sealants.
  • Chair-side dental assisting when directed by the Officer-In-Charge of the dental clinic.
  • Record patients treated and check and maintain instruments to ensure working condition.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of an Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene, depending on the program.
  • Successful completion of a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA).
  • Certification in radiography as required by 42 CFR Part 75.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice as a Dental Hygienist from any U.S. state/territory.
  • Ability to provide clinical competency as a Dental Hygienist within the last 2 years.
