Role Summary:
The primary duties of this role encompass:
The Café Attendant is a part-time, non-benefitted position responsible for ensuring smooth operations and outstanding customer service at the Emporium coffee shop and food market. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Crafting hot, cold, and specialty beverages.
- Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of customer areas, equipment, and work surfaces.
- Preparing food orders and providing excellent customer service.
- Assisting with inventory management and ensuring compliance with operational policies and regulations.
The Cheyenne campus serves approximately 630 residential students, 3,000 commuters, and a faculty and staff population of around 300. Dining services include a 328-seat dining center, the Emporium for grab-and-go options, Coffee 101, and a cashless Micro Market within the Residence Hall.
This role requires a flexible work schedule, including some weekends. We are hiring for two positions: PT Café Attendant 1 (19 hrs/wk) and PT Café Attendant 2 (16 hrs/wk). Schedules may be adjusted based on institutional needs.
Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.
Compensation: This is a classified position with an hourly wage of $15.03/hr, commensurate with experience.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Facilitate daily operations at the Emporium by effectively utilizing resources and adapting to changing needs.
- Support the development and maintenance of a self-sustaining dining and retail program.
- Manage inventory and ordering processes.
- Prepare food and beverages while ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
- Promote a culture of quality and exceptional customer service.
- Utilize enterprise systems for inventory management and customer tracking.
- Create a welcoming environment that fosters community engagement.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to support operational needs during peak times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Food Service Management, Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or related field.
- Two years of experience in food service operations.
- Experience with food service management software.
Work Environment:
This position requires working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, adhering to safety protocols, and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness. The role may involve lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds and requires effective communication skills.
