Job Responsibilities


The HVAC Specialist is responsible for performing skilled tasks at the journeyman level related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, as well as refrigeration units.

Key duties include:

  1. Installing and servicing new HVAC equipment and appliances.
  2. Conducting overhauls and repairs on air conditioning systems, boilers, and refrigeration units.
  3. Testing and inspecting HVAC units to ensure optimal performance.
  4. Executing preventive maintenance on various heating and cooling systems.
  5. Maintaining records and schedules related to service and repairs.

Qualifications


Applicants should possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, with technical training in HVAC systems being advantageous. A minimum of five years of experience in air conditioning mechanics or a related field is required. Certification from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal 608 is mandatory. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.


Work Environment


The role involves exposure to various working conditions, including weather elements and electrical hazards. The HVAC Specialist must be available for on-call duties, providing emergency support as needed.


Driving a university vehicle is a requirement, necessitating a valid Texas driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
