As a PACU Registered Nurse at Huntsville Memorial Hospital, you will play a vital role in the delivery of care to patients who are preparing for, have had a surgical or other invasive procedure. You will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, provide, document, and evaluate care, working collaboratively with the physician and healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct ongoing and systematic collection of data to establish a nursing diagnosis and predict outcomes.
- Coordinate and analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses and establish patient goals.
- Deliver appropriate care to patients at a competent level, according to the needs of the patient and population served.
- Implement interventions identified in the Plan of Care and evaluate patient progress toward attainment of outcomes.
- Effectively communicate with physicians and other team members, providing patient/family teaching based on the needs of each patient.
- Administer and reconcile medications appropriately, adhering to infection prevention protocols.
- Demonstrate an understanding of patient rights, including those pertaining to confidentiality, informed consent, and privacy.
- Participate in a systemic, interdisciplinary, and ongoing evaluation of programs, process improvement, and desired client-centered outcomes.
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing.
- Current Texas licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
- Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of employment, before patient care is administered independently.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 90 days of employment required.
Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and reaching. Occasional sitting, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and twisting. Visual and hearing acuity required; color vision required for perceiving changes in patients' skin color and colors of medicines and solutions.
