Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician

**Job Summary**
The Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician at Health First is responsible for providing high-quality patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role involves performing regular scheduled disinfection on water and dialysis equipment, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring patient safety.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Report and document all new and unusual incidents, information, complaints, or problems to the RN.
- Support Health First's commitment to Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAI) activities by promoting a safe and clean working environment.
- Utilize organizational values to guide a prompt and professional response to every customer request.
- Set up and prime equipment as directed by the RN for renal replacement therapies.
- Welcome assigned patients and inquire about their well-being since their last treatment.
- Evaluate vascular access for patency and report any unusual findings to the RN.
- Obtain necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight.
- Perform vascular access cannulation and report any difficulties or unusual findings to the RN.
- Calculate and enter individual patients' dialysis machine programming.
- Ensure appropriate safety alarms are enabled.
- Accurately and timely record information regarding vital signs and treatment parameters.
- Initiate hemodialysis treatment according to prescribed orders.
- Collect, label, and ensure timely delivery of specimens to the laboratory.
- Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed.
- Monitor patient's response to dialysis therapy and report any unusual findings to the RN.
- Obtain vital signs prior to reinfusion and perform all relevant functions necessary for treatment discontinuation.
- Perform and document any intervention for unusual patient status.
- Evaluate patient's vascular access during treatment and provide appropriate intervention as needed.
- Discontinue dialysis treatment according to established procedures.
- Evaluate patient's heart rate and blood pressures prior to termination of venous access.
- Evaluate the patient prior to discharge and report any unusual findings to the RN.
- Utilize Health First's computer system for order management and patient documentation.
- Demonstrate personal accountability for economically using supplies and caring for equipment.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of LEAN principles and engage in activities to reduce waste or improve processes.
- Contribute to unit productivity by demonstrating good planning, organization, and time management.
