About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Applications Software Engineer to join our team at Amazon Web Services (AWS). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing, enabling, and performance tuning of a wide variety of machine learning model families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Optimize Distributed Inference Solutions: Design and implement distributed inference solutions using Python, PyTorch, or JAX, and optimize them for performance on AWS Trainium and Inferentia silicon.
  • Collaborate with Compiler and Runtime Engineers: Work closely with compiler and runtime engineers to create, build, and tune distributed inference solutions.
  • Lead Efforts in Distributed Inference Support: Lead efforts to build distributed inference support into PyTorch, TensorFlow using XLA, and the Neuron compiler and runtime stacks.
  • Tune Models for Performance: Tune models to ensure highest performance and maximize efficiency on AWS Trainium and Inferentia silicon and the TRn1, Inf1 servers.
A Day in the Life
  1. Design and Code Solutions: Design and code solutions to drive efficiencies in software architecture, create metrics, implement automation, and resolve software defects.
  2. Build High-Impact Solutions: Build high-impact solutions to deliver to our large customer base.
  3. Participate in Design Discussions: Participate in design discussions, code review, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Work Cross-Functionally: Work cross-functionally to drive business decisions with technical input.
  5. Work in a Startup-Like Environment: Work in a startup-like development environment, where you're always working on the most important stuff.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ Years of Professional Software Development Experience: 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ Years of Design or Architecture Experience: 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience.
  • Programming Experience: Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Full Software Development Life Cycle Experience: 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science: Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
