Patrol Officer

Washington College is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Patrol Officer to join our public safety team. As a key member of our campus security team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

• Patrol and Monitoring: Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to monitor for suspicious activities or safety hazards, and maintain a visible presence on campus to deter criminal activity.
• Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency calls, accidents, and incidents, and take immediate action to secure the scene and provide assistance.
• Law Enforcement and Investigation: Enforce campus policies, rules, and regulations, as well as local, state, and federal laws, and conduct investigations into incidents such as thefts, assaults, and vandalism.
• Traffic Control and Parking Enforcement: Ensure the safe flow of traffic on campus roads and parking areas, and enforce parking regulations.
• Crowd Control and Event Security: Provide security and crowd control at campus events, athletic games, concerts, and other large gatherings.
• Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors through outreach programs and community policing initiatives.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; law enforcement/public safety training preferred.
• Previous experience in college public safety/police work or similar exposure to the public is a plus.
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license and first-aid certificate or readiness to undergo first-aid training.
• Ability to work in potential crisis situations and possess strong analytical and reasoning abilities.

Assignments can include foot, bicycle, and vehicle patrols under all types of weather conditions. May be called upon at any time, including holidays, weekdays, and weekends.
