Key Responsibilities- Align and clamp work pieces together using rules, squares, or templates
- Clean joints of work pieces using wire brushes or cleaning solutions
- Select torch tips, flux, and brazing alloys from data charts or work orders
- Connect hoses from torches to regulator valves and cylinders of oxygen, fuel gas, or acetylene
- Adjust pressure and mixture of gases to obtain desired flame color and size
- Brush flux onto joints of work pieces or dip braze rods into flux to prevent oxidation
- Guide torches and rods along joints or seams of work pieces to heat and melt braze alloys
- Examine seams and re-braze defective joints
- May braze together broken parts, cover holes to repair leaks, or melt and separate brazed joints
- Understanding of and ability to interpret manufacturing instructions, work instructions, and inspection data
- Ability to manage time efficiently and work with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery
- Familiarity with materials, tools, and methods of the process
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
