Position Overview:
The Senior Systems Engineer is a pivotal role within the IT Support Services team, focusing on the advanced technical management of information systems and server infrastructure. This position operates under the guidance of the ITSS Executive Director and is integral to maintaining the operational integrity of the organization's IT environment.
Role Summary
This role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including the installation, upkeep, security, and management of information systems and server operations. The Senior Systems Engineer is expected to deliver high-level technical support and innovative solutions for complex IT challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough analysis, design, and implementation of information systems.
2. Oversee the installation and configuration of both virtual and physical servers, ensuring optimal performance and security.
3. Manage application installations, updates, and user account configurations, providing necessary documentation and support.
4. Schedule and execute system maintenance to guarantee the reliability of the database environment.
5. Monitor network and server performance, addressing security issues and troubleshooting as necessary.
6. Support the infrastructure for identity management and assist in troubleshooting.
7. Engage in disaster recovery planning and ensure data protection and system redundancy.
8. Implement best practices in Information Security to enhance server and application security.
9. Communicate effectively with ITSS personnel and end-users, addressing concerns and providing updates to management.
10. Collaborate with ITSS colleagues to maintain system operations and explore new technologies relevant to educational institutions.
11. Administer VoIP telecommunications systems, ensuring proper configuration and maintenance.
12. Work with external consultants and vendors for the installation and support of new server technologies.
13. Participate in the administration of Microsoft Exchange Online within a hybrid infrastructure.
14. Provide support for student information systems and related databases.
15. Offer cross-functional support to other technical staff as needed.
16. Install and maintain various hardware and software systems.
17. Develop and manage server network interfaces.
18. Maintain accurate inventories of software and hardware assets.
19. Assist end-users with escalated technical support requests.
20. Collaborate with management to evaluate new technology solutions.
21. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
2. A minimum of four years of experience in server hardware and software maintenance, particularly in Windows Server environments.
Licenses and Requirements:
1. A valid driver's license is required.
Desired Skills:
1. Bilingual skills are a plus.
