About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Trainer to join our team at Menlo School. As a key member of our Athletics department, you will be responsible for providing top-notch medical care and support to our student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initial Assessments and Care: Conduct thorough assessments of student-athletes' injuries or illnesses, and determine the next steps for referral and treatment.
  • Emergency and Continued Care: Provide immediate and ongoing care to injured athletes, including emergency response and ongoing treatment.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with our team physician, coaches, and physical therapists to provide comprehensive physical rehabilitative services to injured student-athletes.
  • Return to Play Protocols: Evaluate athletes' readiness to return to play, using established return to play protocols to ensure their safe return to competition.
  • Prophylactic Measures: Provide prophylactic bracing and taping as necessary to prevent injuries and promote athlete safety.
  • Progress Monitoring: Assess and report the progress of recovering athletes to coaches and physicians, ensuring they receive the best possible care.
  • Equipment Education: Advise student-athletes on the proper use of equipment to prevent injuries and promote safe play.
  • Team Support: Attend athletic teams' practices and games, providing support and guidance to coaches, athletes, and staff.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student treatment and health, using the SportsWare cloud-based system to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in athletic training or a related field.
  • Certifications and Qualifications: BOC certified, BLS CPR/AED certified, and experience with RTP concussion protocols and familiarity with California law regarding concussions.
