Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team at AHMC Healthcare. As a Respiratory Care Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as defined by departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • General respiratory patient care, emergency care, critical care, patient assessment, blood gas collection and analysis, and ventilator management.
  • Utilization of advanced practitioner skills to intervene in complex patient care situations.
  • Preparation of accurate patient charges, maintenance of meaningful patient records, and complete documentation for the patient medical record.
  • Exercise of sound judgement in relating the physician's order to the actual condition of the patient.
  • Consultation with the Lead RCP, RN, and/or physician in questionable situations.
  • Proper use of all respiratory equipment and performance of cleaning and routine maintenance on all equipment timely when applicable.
  • Performance of patient assessment to determine appropriateness of ordered respiratory therapy.
  • Arterial Blood Gas procedure.
  • Follows all hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates consideration and professionalism in working with patient's family members and medical staff.
  • Opportunity to make recommendations that enhance resource utilization within the department.
  • Attendance and participation in regularly scheduled department staff meetings.
  • Use of personal protective equipment as is appropriate to the task performed.
  • Customer Service; Patient Satisfaction as measured by third party.
  • Maintenance of professional standards for clinical practice.
  • Consistent punctuality and adherence to department specific method of recording hours.
  • Proper use of sick time and personal days off.
  • Knowledge of Growth and Development.

Department Specific Competencies:

  • Neonate: Gestational age, intubation/meconium aspiration, capillary blood gas, ventilator, C-section deliveries.
  • Infant/Child: Tracheotomy, capillary blood gas, ventilator.
  • Adolescent: Tracheotomy, ventilator, arterial blood gas sampling.
  • Adulthood: Ventilator, tracheotomy, arterial blood gas sampling.
  • Geriatric: Ventilator, tracheotomy, arterial blood gas sampling.

Qualifications:

  • Current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of California.
  • Graduate from an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program and is credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Minimum two years experience including clinical experience preferred.
  • Current CPR, NRP, and PALS required. ACLS preferred. NRP may be obtained within 90 days of employment.
