Theatre Adjunct Instructor

Job Summary

College of the Canyons is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach Stagecraft courses. The successful candidate will have a strong background in technical theatre and the ability to create a dynamic learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Stagecraft lecture and/or lab classes
  • Develop and implement curriculum that meets the needs of students
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback
  • Collaborate with department designers, technical director, and student work crew
  • Participate in department, division, college committees, and participatory governance activities
Requirements
  • Possession of an unexpired California Community College Instructor Credential in Theatre
  • OR- Any Bachelor's degree or Bachelors of Fine Arts AND two years' professional experience in stagecraft, technical theatre or scenic construction
  • OR- An Associate's degree AND six years' professional experience in stagecraft, technical theatre or scenic construction
  • OR- Equivalency: An official transcript documenting successful completion of any Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education AND official transcripts documenting successful completion of 24 semester units in the discipline at the upper division and graduate level, a minimum of which must be 12 graduate level semester units
Desirable Qualifications
  • Master's degree or Masters of Fine Arts in Technical Theatre
  • Ability to carry out the professional duties of the position
  • Collaborative work style
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
Working Conditions
  • Assignments may include Monday through Friday (day and evening), as well as Saturday classes
  • Adjunct Salary Rate: Starting at $88.30 per hour
