Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Production Machine Feeder to join our team at Natural Grocers. As a key member of our automated department, you will be responsible for the daily setup and operation of the loading platform for our bulk foods packaging department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify daily/weekly production schedules with machine operators to ensure seamless production runs.
  • Ensure machine tooling is properly set up for scheduled raw materials to maintain efficiency and accuracy.
  • Inspect raw materials during the loading process and report any quality concerns to the QA department.
  • Feed raw materials into hoppers in a sanitary, accurate, and efficient manner to maintain product flow.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of raw materials entering production to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Lead quick and efficient changeovers to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
  • Complete necessary documentation for changeovers, cleaning, and product specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Remove waste and sweep work areas regularly to maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
  • Assist with pallet jack operation as needed to ensure efficient material handling.
  • Follow all Standard Sanitary Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and food safety standards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform all tasks in a manner that promotes safety and well-being for yourself and others.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management is required.
  • Ability to obtain certification and safety operate electric pallet jack is required.
  • Provide backup support to the Production Support position as needed.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in food production is preferred.
  • Must be able to maintain product flow on multiple lines.
  • Must become familiar with allergen categories and required segregation for allergens and organic products.
  • Good attention to detail, communication, accuracy, and thoroughness are essential.
  • Exposure to 5S and Lean manufacturing methodologies is a plus.
  • Ability to work with others in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Must be reliable and on time every day.
  • Able to work in a seasonally warm or cool environment.

Physical Capabilities and Environmental Demands

The Production Machine Feeder position requires:

  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 30 lbs.
  • Constant use of the computer for data entry and mouse use.
  • Constant sitting, fine motor manipulations, and reaching outward for the duration of the work shift.
  • Frequent gripping, bending, twisting, and turning.
  • Occasional walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, and reaching above chest as needed.

The work environment requires occasional exposure to cold, heat, sharp tools and equipment, noise, contact stress, dust, fumes, and congested worksites.
