Overview of the Role

The Nursing Professional Development Specialist - Unit Based position at MultiCare Health System is a dynamic role that requires an individual with expertise in nursing professional development. The successful candidate will be responsible for operationalizing tools, theories, skills, and knowledge to improve evidence-based practice among nursing staff. This role is designed to facilitate positive learning and practice environments, ensuring high-quality patient care.

About the Job Description

This role involves practicing as a Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Specialist, assuming various roles such as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty, and partner for practice transitions. The incumbent will operate under the direction of their assigned manager, collaborating significantly with Program Managers, Clinical Operational Managers, and Directors within the Center for Clinical Education & Professional Practice Development.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess a Master's degree in Nursing and a Washington State Registered Nurse license (RN). A PhD in Nursing, DNP, or ARNP is preferred, along with ANCC NPD specialty certification. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of four years of acute care nursing practice and three years of program management experience within an education role. Prior experience as a unit educator, system educator, or NPD Specialist/Generalist is also desirable.
