Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Paramedic PRN to join our team at SSM Health. As a Paramedic PRN, you will provide basic and advanced life support treatment, care, and evaluation of patients on scene.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and stabilize patients during intrafacility and/or interfacility transport under the direction of a physician and/or Registered Nurse (RN).
- Initiate and implement interventions based on team protocols, monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition and treatment as appropriate.
- Provide population-specific education to patients and families about their illness and therapeutic interventions.
- Inspect, maintain, and care for equipment to ensure the safety of the team, patients, and public.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- May interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts.
- May prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- May perform basic clerical duties, including answering the phone, maintaining records, scheduling patients, and filing.
- May assist with treatments ordered by providers as supervised by providers or registered nurses.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
- No experience required.
- Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
- Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Occasional driving.
- Rare crawling and running.
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
