Job Description

As a CDL Bus Driver with Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida, you will be responsible for safely transporting members to and from after-school activities and special events. This part-time position offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate vehicles safely and professionally, adhering to all traffic regulations and safety protocols.
  • Transport members along pre-planned routes, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of children during loading, unloading, and transportation.
  • Instruct members in safety precautions and practices, promoting a culture of responsibility and respect.
  • Maintain discipline of passengers, reporting any unruly behavior to a supervisor.
  • Clean the bus interior daily, ensuring a clean and safe environment for members.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance checks, ensuring the vehicle is in good working condition.
  • Keep operational records up to date, reporting any issues to the supervisor.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Attend relevant staff meetings and training events, staying up-to-date on industry best practices and club policies.
  • May participate in additional special programs and/or events, contributing to the overall success of the club.
  • Evenings/weekend work may be involved, requiring flexibility and adaptability.
  • Other duties as assigned, supporting the club's mission and goals.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED, demonstrating a strong foundation in education and personal development.
  • Current state-issued Commercial Driver's License (B) with P Endorsement, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Dependable and safe driving history, reflecting a commitment to road safety and responsible behavior.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain, demonstrating a proactive approach to member safety and well-being.
  • Ability to pass DCF Level II background screening and drug test, ensuring a safe and secure environment for members.

Work Environment:

This position generally works Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, with occasional longer hours and weekends as needed. Full-time driving opportunities may be available during Spring Break and Summer, offering a chance to expand your skills and experience.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for long periods, demonstrating endurance and stamina.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 25 lbs., reflecting a strong physical presence and ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Ability to hear at a normal conversational level, ensuring effective communication with members and colleagues.
  • Ability to maintain a high energy level when necessary, promoting a positive and engaging atmosphere for members.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence, reflecting a strong ability to empathize with and support members.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions—hot, cold, rainy, etc.—demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
